Scotland's History
Most books on Scottish history start with the arrival of the Romans in the AD 79, as if that were the start of Scotlands rich heritage. The Roman General, Agricola, certainly provided us with the first written description of the people and of the region called Caledonia, but it is clear that the history of this diverse nation doesn't start then.
The country we now call Scotland had been continuously, inhabited for over four thousand to a time when the great seas (including the surrounding North Sea) had not formed and settled. Semi nomadic groups roamed the land and some had made settlements around the coasts.
The land, pictured below, that we know today would have been unrecognisable.
